Claiming Back Narratives: Exploring the Everyday Experiences of Forcibly Displaced People Living in Glasgow

Where: Chrystal Macmillan Building ground floor foyer (exhibition); Chrystal Macmillan Building 1st Floor Practice Suite (documentary screenings and discussion)

The LIVED Scotland team in partnership with Refuweegee welcome you to join the exhibition launch for our collaborative photovoice project where refugees themselves produce and control the narratives of their everyday experiences of living in Glasgow. The exhibition showcases photos that participants have taken with disposable cameras, and explores topics that participants wish to share with the public.

In addition to the exhibition launch there will be screenings of two documentaries exploring related topics: (1) 'Everyday Borders', part of the Migrant Rights Network Everyday Borders project at UCL directed by Nira-Yuval Davis (2) LIVED's very own documentary, 'Learning to Swim,' exploring the experiences of forcibly displaced Syrian young people in Jordan.

These screenings will be complemented by an open discussion exploring Scotland's response to welcoming forcibly displaced people and followed by a wine reception in the CMB foyer.
